How we got here: Doing what we love and helping our clients.

We opened our doors in 1996 because our owner, Stephanie, has a passion for anything dog-related. Stephanie has shown dogs since she was a teenager and wanted to make the joy she got from dogs into a career. She envisioned a place that dogs would be happy to visit, and that was flexible enough to accommodate each pet's individual care needs. She started with grooming and later expanded into boarding after watching dogs in her home (and being asked to by countless clients). Stephanie and her family purchased Pet Food Plus, Eau Claire's hometown pet supply shop, in 2001. She later added doggie daycare to Paws & Claws' extensive services, and now we have "everything for your pet but the vet"!

Why We Do It

We enjoy seeing pet owners feel good about the care of their 4-legged family members. Our services go far beyond just taking care of animals: we strive to develop meaningful, purpose-filled relationships with every client. It brings us joy to share our knowledge with pet owners and help them help their pets live healthier, happier, longer lives.

We Are Their Companions

We believe our clients’ pets are family members. Not in a silly way, but in a humane way: we believe pets are worthy of respect and loving care. Our goal is to improve the lives of animals and their owners in all situations. Pets are full of unconditional love, and it’s our duty to give some of that back.

It's heartwarming and overwhelming to see our clients know we care about their pets just like they do. It’s the culmination of immense trust and honorable service. This feeling makes us proud of what we do and drives us to constantly look for ways to improve.

We love nothing more than to hear a client say: "My dog gets so excited when we go to Paws & Claws!”. To us, that is true success!
