Things to Know!
- Paws & Claws will not shave double-coated dogs such as Golden Retrievers, Collies or Siberian Huskies. It is not healthy for them as their top coat actually protects them from the elements including cold and heat. Shaving will cause their hair to grow back even thicker and fuzzier.
- Dog’s hair mats at the skin so letting your dog get matted can cause severe discomfort for your pet, including skin infections. In the winter, matting can lead your dog to get chilled because there is no air circulation to help dry the hair so the pet will actually stay wetter longer. However, if your pet is a house dog, they should be able to be trimmed no matter the season.
- The longer you want your dog’s hair the more often they need to be groomed to prevent the hair from becoming matted. We can send you a grooming reminder card to help you keep track of the time between appointments!
